January is coming up fast, and it’s never too early to start thinking about New Year’s health resolutions. Learn how simple lifestyle changes could possibly empower you to be healthier and more productive.
1. Go for a run before dinner
Running, walking and cycling suppresses ghrelin, a hormone that increases appetite. So a run before dinner will not only burn calories and stress from work, but you will eat less afterwards.
2. Climb stairs whenever you can
Did you know that if you climb 10 floors in about 5 minutes, you would have burnt 100 calories?
3. Cut carbs once or twice weekly
Losing weight is about considering your caloric intake and caloric output. A baby step can be setting aside one or two days a week when you take a minimal amount of carbohydrates but still consume protein and fat.
4. Eat enough protein
Eating enough protein helps preserve muscle mass and encourages fat burning while keeping you feeling full. So be sure to include healthy protein sources, like yogurt, cheese, nuts, beans, or lean meat at meals and snacks.
5.. Cook your own meals
Set a day or more in a week to prepare home-cooked meals rather than eating out every single day. It is healthier this way as you can control the ingredients that go into your food. Cooking can also be a way to get in some exercise as you’ll be on your feet.
