What is the difference between the various type of tests?

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Swab Tests

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) swab tests are used to directly detect the presence of an antigen.

By detecting viral ribonucleic acid (RNA), PCR tests can tell whether or not someone has the virus.

AcuMed Medical uses nasopharyngeal swabs for all PCR swab tests conducted at our clinics.

Covid Serology (IgG & IgM)/Antibody Tests

An antibody/serology test looks for the presence of antibodies, which are specific proteins made in response to infections.

Antibodies are typically detected in the blood of people who are tested after infection.

AcuMed Medical uses venous blood samples for all Antibody/Serology (IgG & IgM) tests conducted at our clinics.
